Why people travel for EMDR
Most people looking for EMDR start close to home and widen the search when nothing nearby fits. A few things make Langley a practical place to land.
- Fewer counsellors offer EMDR than general talk therapy, so the closest one with an opening is often not in your own city.
- The office is a few minutes off Highway 1, the road most of the Fraser Valley and the Tri-Cities already use.
- Any session can be held online instead, so a bad traffic day never has to cost you a session.
In person or online
In the room
Some people prefer processing sessions in a space that is not home, with the counsellor right there. It also keeps the work separate from the rest of your week.

Over secure video
EMDR works online. The bilateral part is done by following a moving point on screen or by tapping you do yourself, with guidance throughout. Being at home afterwards, with no drive, suits a lot of people.
Available anywhere in British Columbia, at the same fee as in person.

Planning the drive around a session
- Appointments run every day, 8am to 8pm.
- Leave a little room after a processing session. People often feel tired or tender afterwards, and a gap before work or errands helps.
- Weekend and evening appointments miss the worst of the Highway 1 and bridge traffic.
- If driving straight after processing does not feel right, hold those sessions online and come in for the others. You decide, and you can change your mind.
Sessions are offered in English and Farsi. Individual sessions start at $170 for 50 minutes and couples sessions at $210, the same online as in person, with direct billing to major insurers.

Questions about EMDR from outside Langley
- Is online EMDR as effective as in person?
- Online EMDR is widely used and follows the same steps as in-person work. What matters most is preparation, pacing, and feeling safe enough to do the work, and for some people home is where that is easiest. The free consultation is the place to talk through which suits you.
- Is it safe to drive home after an EMDR session?
- Most people drive home without difficulty. EMDR sessions end with a closing step that brings you back to steady before you leave. If you expect a heavy session, it can be held online so there is no drive at all.
- How many EMDR sessions will I need?
- It depends on what you are working on. A single distressing event usually needs fewer sessions than long-standing or complex trauma, and preparation always comes before processing. You will have a clearer picture after the first few sessions.
- Is there an EMDR office in Surrey, Coquitlam or Abbotsford?
- No. There is one office, in Willoughby, Langley. Clients from those cities either drive in or meet online.
