Terms of Use

Introduction

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the website at romavilla.ca (the “Site”), operated by Roma Villa Counselling (“we”, “our”, “us”). By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Counselling itself is governed by a separate informed consent agreement that you review and sign before your first session. Where these Terms and that agreement differ, the consent agreement applies to the counselling relationship.

Not an emergency service

The Site is informational and counselling is booked in advance. Neither is a crisis or emergency service, and nothing on the Site should be relied on in an emergency. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. For urgent mental health support anywhere in Canada, call or text 988, the Suicide Crisis Helpline, at any hour. In British Columbia you can also call 310-6789 (no area code) to reach the Mental Health Support Line.

No clinical advice on the Site

The content on the Site describes our services and offers general information about counselling. It is not clinical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and reading it does not make you a client. Counselling begins only when we have both agreed to work together and you have completed informed consent.

Using the Site

You must be at least 18 years old to book services through the Site on your own behalf. You agree not to use the Site for any unlawful purpose, to interfere with its operation, to attempt to gain access to systems or data that are not yours, or to misrepresent who you are.

Booking, fees, and cancellations

Booking is handled by Jane, our practice management system, under its own terms. Fees are published on the book and fees page and confirmed in Jane at the time of booking. The cancellation policy is set out in the informed consent agreement and in Jane’s booking confirmation.

Privacy

How we handle personal information, on the Site and in counselling, is described in our Privacy Policy. It is part of these Terms.

Intellectual property

The text, images, logo, and design of the Site belong to Roma Villa Counselling or its licensors. You may read and share links to it freely. Reproducing or adapting it beyond personal, non-commercial use needs our written permission.

Links to other sites

The Site links to third-party sites, including Jane and Google Maps. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Site is provided as is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, and we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the Site or from reliance on its general information. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under British Columbia law, and nothing here limits the professional duties we owe you as a client under the informed consent agreement and BCACC standards.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute about the Site will be dealt with in the courts of British Columbia.

Changes

When these Terms change, the new version is posted here with an updated effective date. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
