Does any of this sound familiar?
- A racing heart, tight chest or shaky breath that seems to come from nowhere.
- Feeling sure, in the moment, that something terrible is about to happen.
- Avoiding places, drives or crowds in case it happens there.
- Spending your days on alert, waiting for the next one.
Your body is trying to protect you.
Panic is the body's alarm system going off when there is no fire. It feels frightening, but it can be understood, and it can settle. You shouldn't have to shrink your life around the fear of the next wave, and you don't have to face it on your own.

What can change
You may still feel a jolt sometimes. The difference is that it no longer decides where you go.

- Learn practical ways to ride out a wave and bring your breathing back down.
- Notice what sets panic off, including older experiences that may be feeding it.
- Go back to the places and plans you have been avoiding.

Have questions about counselling for panic attacks?
Should I also see a doctor?
If you haven't already, yes. A doctor can rule out physical causes for symptoms like chest pain or a racing heart. Counselling works alongside medical care, not instead of it. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No. Counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia does not require a physician referral. You can book directly.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. Sessions are available in person in Langley and online anywhere in British Columbia, in English or Farsi.
Fees
The 20 minute consultation is free. Sessions start at $170. There is no wait list, and direct billing is available for many extended health plans. Counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor is exempt from GST, so the price shown is the price you pay.
